Programme notes
The four Sundays of Advent carry four simple, yet uplifting words: faith, hope, joy, love. Our concert is also structured around these four concepts. In four musical blocks, we will travel along the inner path of Advent anticipation: from silence to light, from expectation to fulfillment.
In addition to works by Kodály, Hassler, Poulenc and Warlock, instrumental and textual passages connect the musical moments, transforming the festive anticipation into an intimate and personal experience, giving space for silence and contemplation. And perhaps it is in these silences that the evening will be most personal.
The members of our choir will share what the four Advent words mean to them with a poem, prose excerpt or personal story that is important to them. Because faith, hope, joy and love are not just festive concepts – they gain real meaning in each of our own stories, memories and expectations.
An evening with music, four words, and a variety of personal lights.
